    Lidio Ajmone (Coggiola, Italy, 1884 – Andezeno, Italy, 1945)

    Lidio Ajmone was born in Coggiola, near Biella, in 1884.

    In 1893, he moved to Turin with his father who was a notary. He received a classical education, and at the age of eighteen began attending the Accademia Albertina. Later, he joined Cavalleri's studio.

    He actively participated in Turin's cultural life, frequently exhibiting his works and travelling to cities such as Genoa, Novara, Casale Monferrato, Vercelli and Rome.

    In 1912, he visited Tripolitania (now a region in Libya) and, in the same year, he got some of his studies from the period exhibited at the Promotrice in Turin. He served in the First World War.

    From 1925 to 1928, he lived in Somalia. After returning to Italy, he exhibited another 90 works dedicated to those years, once again at the Promotrice in Turin.

    He spent some time in Rhodes, where he returned in 1941, after falling ill.

     

    The artist died in Andezeno in 1945.
